Willow Park
adventure+ is proud to have been involved in the upgrading of the Willow Park playground in Whittlesea. Working closely with the City of Whittlesea and their landscape architect, we were able to capture exactly the ideas and thoughts they had envisioned and turn them into a reality.
The playground features a large play tower with a spiral tunnel slide, scramble net, wall climber and ladder. The challenge here was to work out a way to utilize the embankment beside the playground to make access easier for children. This was achieved with the use of a ramp which joined the footpath to the central tower making access very easy.
Besides the central tower, there are several other play elements involved in the design. Again, incorporating the slopes and banks into the playground, there are two double mound slides located on separate slopes making great use of the natural landscape. There is also a rocker ride, swing frame, large climbing cube and a mound scaling rope creating hours of endless fun for the children.
Special consideration was taken in choosing the colour scheme to make it stand out but not become an eyesore in the natural park environment. The bright colours of the steel panels and the slides work effectively together with the natural stained timber to create just the look the council was after.
