Playground Glow-up

As part of the upgrade of Carlson Reserve, the City of Monash engaged adventure+ to design, manufacture and install new playground equipment. The vision was to provide a unique, diverse and activity-packed play experience for all age groups in the community. adventure+ was able to help achieve this by creating multiple pieces of equipment that boasts a natural and distinctive aesthetic.

A new playground at Carlson Reserve includes something for all age groups and interests. Its unique colour scheme and timber gives it a distinctive appearance.

Fresh, exciting equipment

Working with the council’s landscape architect, an outdated climbing area with a concrete tunnel has been replaced by new, exciting equipment, including:

Play tower
Climbing cube
Swing frame
Junior play unit
Cubby unit
Comet spinner

Subtle natural colour scheme

In line with the natural look and feel of the park, a warm, natural colour scheme was selected. The use of natural uncoated timber with black and bright orange steel construction produces a simple yet effective look. Customising the play elements and colour scheme ensures this play space is unique and has its own identity.

Igniting the imagination of all ages

Ensuring that users have engaged needs to be the priority when designing a play area. An essential tool to achieve this is designing for various interests and age groups. The play equipment was carefully designed to cater to older and younger children. While older children love the large tower and challenging nets, less challenging elements are perfect for junior children. As a result, parents can sit back knowing their children are playing safely.

The park upgrade has been a total success. Parents, children and the local council have been very impressed and pleased with the outcome.
