Overview
Designed by MDG Landscape Architects in conjunction with adventure+, Edgars Creek Reserve is the primary play space within the new Aurora Estate in Wollert, Victoria. This playground needed to be large enough to cater for the growing population of the area, as well as being modern and attractive aesthetically to help attract residents.

Large community playground packed with lots of fun and creative play elements
The structured play element is a huge play tower, standing at around 6 metres tall and incorporating two slides coming from its highest and second-highest platforms. Installed on a mound allowed the large slide to be even longer!
Surrounding the tower is a variety of exciting play elements such as flying foxes, balance beams, voice tubes and swings.
All equipment for this project has been designed and manufactured in Australia, allowing design flexibility and the assurance of second-to-none quality.
Appearance is essential; however, getting the design is equally essential to ensure children are engaged and challenged. Balancing more challenging items like a climbing rope access suited to senior children with small easy-access stairs for juniors was vital to the success of the design.
The main tower was constructed using the steel based spectrum+ system, coupled with timber panelling as a feature. This is very effective in creating a modern, natural look. This more muted pallet is complemented beautifully by the brightly coloured blues and purple undersurfacing needed to make a playground attractive to children.
This project includes a custom spectrum+ design play unit that utilises powdercoated steel as the main structural element.
