Providing an inclusive play space for students

The combination unit not only provides exceptional play value but also ensures accessible routes for everyone throughout and onto the playground. The inclusion of a wheelchair-friendly ramp, rubber undersurfacing pathways, and various accessible ground-level features was a thoughtful and intentional aspect of the playground’s design.

The new playground at Peninsula Specialist College quickly became a favourite among students. Tailored to seamlessly integrate into the site, this playground features a variety of climbing, balancing, and overhead activities to encourage active play. It was designed to align with the school’s proposed site, adhere to their budget, and meet maintenance needs.

Designed for maximum engagement

We consistently prioritise assessing the age range of playground users before initiating any design. This project was no exception. We incorporated a diverse array of play activities that appeal to different age groups. This new playground presents various play options, including imaginative play items, active activities, and balancing elements.

The final flourish

The play space was completed with rubber undersurfacing, offering a soft landing for students while maintaining a clean and tidy area. This choice is ideal for play spaces due to its durability, slip resistance, and ease of maintenance. As a result, maintenance staff can focus more on ensuring the play space remains safe and enjoyable for children. Both the children and teachers are delighted with the project’s outcome.
