Williams Reserve, one of the favourite parks in inner Melbourne suburb East Richmond, has been re-opened following a major upgrade. Surrounded by multi-story apartment buildings, this park is the extension of many small backyards and provides a space for recreation and relaxation amid the busy city life.

Two tone symmetry+ timber unit in East Richmond

Blending with architecture

The upgrade involved major landscape works, including planting, paving and irrigation, as well as a brand new playground designed and manufactured by adventure+. While a relatively small playground unit, its architectural design blends perfectly with colours and feel of the surrounding environment. Utilising the symmetry+ timber system, with a two-tone timber colour and a slatted skillion roof provides a touch of nature, and yet still invites children into the park.

adventure+ enjoyed working with the City of Yarra on this project and is just as pleased with the outcome as the residents. Well done to all involved, especially City of Yarra and Hansen Partnership, for making a much-loved space even more engaging and community centric.
