Overview
Playce engaged adventure+ to design and manufacture the play equipment for the new Arnolds Creek Play Space in Melbourne’s West. Beautifully designed using an attractive combination of steel and timber, the playground looks natural but is extremely durable.

Client: Playce
Playground constructed from steel and timber.
The new play space within the reserve was built to complement the other sports and activity facilities in the nearby area. The Arnolds Creek Recreation Reserve is approximately 8.4 hectares and has substantial active sports facilities including two ovals, tennis courts, pavilion and walking paths and much more.
The upgrade works sought to upgrade the reserve to a level that will increase the attractiveness of the reserve for local use.
Community consultation indicated that residents wanted a number of specific pieces of custom designed playground equipment, as well as a flying fox, spinner and a play tower with natural, interactive features. There was also a need to create an attractive environment where families could sit in the shade and enjoy a picnic meal or spend time comfortably while their children played. For this reason, a number of trees and picnic tables were incorporated into the design.
The result is a tranquil, appealing space that invites families to linger and relax as well as providing numerous opportunities for active play. The playground items were selected to be suitable for children of a range of ages and abilities, including those with special needs.
This project includes a spectrum+ hybrid special design play unit that combines the beauty of timber with the strength of steel.
