Highbury Park

Overview

Inclusive, impressive & fun

The exciting new playground at Highbury Park demonstrates the adventure+ ability to customise equipment by varying components and design to achieve an impressive, architectural look. A unique play unit was created by utilizing a softer color scheme, varied height interactive panels, and a multitude of different access points for various abilities. Working closely with Whitehorse City Council, adventure+ was able to create a playspace that ticked all the right boxes.

Project Overview

Burwood East, Vic

Client: Whitehorse City Council

Unique playground with great views from the linking platforms with accessable ramps

Designed to tick all the boxes

adventure+ was engaged by the council to create an exciting and engaging playground for the local residents. The key feature of the project is the impressive four towers connected by bridges that rise above the surrounding neighbourhood. With its soft grey coloured perforated panels and large purple and grey panels and rock walls, the desire to play seems to attract everyone.

A place where everyone can play

Working closely with the council and community adventure+ specifically designed the play space to be inclusive and accommodate all abilities and ages. The combination unit offers exceptional play value, as well as providing all abilities access routes throughout and onto the playground. The inclusion of wheelchair-friendly ramps to the below two towers, rubber undersurfacing pathways, and various accessible ancillary items was a considered and deliberate part of the playgrounds design.

Huge range of equipment

The play space includes a range of equipment, including a rock-climbing wall, galaxy wheelchair carousel, rockers, a 4 metre-high lunar net centre mast structure, 3 metre gyro, hammock, and swing set, all of which are easily accessible by rubber undersurfacing paths. The large range of activities available on the playground was selected to keep children mentally and physically engaged whilst providing hours of endless fun.

Most of the equipment for this project has been designed and manufactured in Australia, allowing design flexibility as well as the assurance of second-to-none quality.

Supporting those in need

Our work doesn’t stop at playgrounds. The previous play space equipment was dismantled and donated to the Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds program to be reinstalled for use in disadvantaged communities overseas. adventure+ is engaged with many charities that support community causes such as supporting the homeless and disadvantaged, emergency services, hospitals, churches, and schools.

The playspace suits the needs of everyone and stands out with a difference, just as the community requested.
