Overview

Inspiring community space

In close collaboration with ACLA Consultants and the City of Boroondara, our design team set out to create a playground experience that inspires and energises children of all ages. The final layout delivers a vibrant, multi-layered play environment that encourages imaginative play, supports physical challenge, and promotes positive social interaction in a safe, well-supervised setting. By combining a broad mix of stimulating activities from traditional play elements to contemporary, innovative features, the playground provides a rich, engaging experience with something for every child to enjoy.

Cheerful modern playground ideal for children of all ages

Providing an inclusive play space

The combination unit not only delivers outstanding play value, but it also provides accessible circulation throughout the playground and onto the main structure. A wheelchair‑friendly ramp, rubber undersurfacing pathways, and a range of accessible ground‑level activities were all deliberately incorporated to ensure the space can be safely and comfortably enjoyed by children of all abilities.

Cheerful aesthetic

The playground has been carefully designed to create an inviting, vibrant atmosphere, combining warm, bright colours with a playful balance of steel and timber elements. Aqua and yellow highlights provide a cheerful contrast and strengthen the overall visual impact of the space. The combination of rubber and mulch undersurfacing further enhances the aesthetic while contributing to a comfortable, compliant and safe environment for children to play and explore. This cohesive design approach makes the play space an attractive, welcoming destination for families.

Fitting the space

Carefully tailored to integrate with the existing landscape, this playground incorporates a wide range of climbing, balancing, and overhead elements that promote active, skill-building play. The layout was planned to follow the site’s contours, respect budget parameters, and support straightforward ongoing maintenance. Vertical play has been used strategically, with upper-level components reconnecting seamlessly to ground level along the slope. This approach increases overall play value, creating generous opportunities for younger children at ground level while offering more demanding elevated challenges for older children on the higher play elements.
