adventure+ recently worked with the Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Specialist School to transform the existing playground facilities. The school wanted to create an opportunity for all children to be able to play together on different parts of the same equipment. The existing playground equipment was replaced with new playground equipment to create an atmosphere that is more fun and engaging for children of all ages and abilities.

New steel playground featuring inclusive elements for all abilities
Working closely with Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Specialist School, adventure+ designed the play space to be inclusive and accommodate all abilities. The combination unit offers exceptional play value and provides all abilities access routes throughout and onto the playground. Including a wheelchair-friendly ramp, rubber undersurfacing pathways, and various accessible ground-level items was a considered and deliberate part of the playground’s design.
Due to difficult access to the proposed playground site, our installers had to think outside the box and go above and beyond. To access the relatively enclosed courtyard in this small school area, the playground components and equipment had to be lifted in by crane!
The spectrum+ range utilises powder-coated steel that can be customised with colours of your choice. This school selected a striking colour scheme that matches well with the surrounding rubber undersurfacing but also adds a fun pop of colour to the area.
While only a small playground unit, the designers at adventure+ ensured the playground was packed full of exciting and engaging activities to ensure the play value was maximised. Utilising adventure+’s ability to customise all of the school’s requests and requirements were able to be included while fitting within the site and budget. Elements such as the activity panels, shop counter and ramp access are suited for all abilities to encourage inclusive play.
